Hi All,

Sunday was my birthday, both the boys and husband got me some boots vouchers which I had requested, as I like to treat myself to creams and lotions. In total had £200.00 worth.

Went in today the bill came to just over £150 handed over my husbands gift card for £100, and there was nothing on it. They phoned head office they said nothing could be done without the receipt which I had binned.

Quickly ran home as the binmen come today, went through all the black bags and found it.

After work returned to Boots spoke to the store manager, but the number on the gift card was different from the receipt, so they suggested I ring head office.

Went home phoned head office they said ring the branch where it was brought, which was high holburn in London, gave all the details to the girl on the phone even the day and time it was purchased, anyway they are investigating and my husband has to ring them tomorrow.

Strange, can't wait for the outcome.

Hi Annie,

What a shame this happened to your birthday gift.
I don't suppose you could have had a used gift card in your bag and mixed them up? It seems strange that the number on the card is different to the receipt.
Let us know what happens, and a belated happy birthday for Sunday!

Love, Doreen xx

Oh Anne Sad I had exactly the same, though only with a £20 M n S voucher from my bro. Nothing I could do as I had no proof of purchase and the card just came up as 'not actvated'. They even tried to say that perhaps the card had never been purchased. Not even my bro is that mean!

You must be gutted though Anne for such a large amount and something you have treated yourself to. really hope they can sort this out for you. Happy belated birthday and good luck - let us know how you get on xx Ailsa

Hi All

All sorted.

Husband phoned the store this morning and they just said it was unusual circumstances so they said to bring the old one to High Holburn and they would swap it, but he said no they should ring our local boots and arrange it so I could do it there.

I went up this morning and received a new gift card for the full amount.

Moral of the story when you buy a gift card always check the number on the gift card corresponds with the number on the gift card receipt and always keep receipts.

It does make you think that there could have been some in store fraud, but hey at least its a happy ending.
